This document is an addendum to the installation notes
provided with InterBase 4.0 for SCO Open Server 5.0.
InterBase 4.0 for SCO Open Server 5.0 comes with two floppy disks.

There are two methods to install InterBase 4.0 for SCO Open Server 5.0:
Using the graphical interface
Using the command line
Listed below are instructions for each.
Installing using the Graphical Interface
Fire up custom utility to install InterBase
this is in the Software Manager
Go to Software Manager
Click on Software
Installation from the Command Line
To leave the gui, click on Host and then on Exit.
Press CTL ALT F1 to switch into command line.
Fire up custom utility to install InterBase.
To do this, type custom at the command prompt.
A menu will appear.
Right arrow to Software and press enter.
Highlight Install new press enter.
Prompt: What machine do you want to install from?
Highlight your Machine - enter
Prompt: Select media device:
Select Floppy Disk
Prompt: Select Software to install
InterBase should be highlighted - InterBase relational DBMS (ver V4.0M_SS)
Tab to Install - Enter
Prompt: Insert Next Volume Insert: Volume 2
Eject floppy disk 1 of 2
Insert floppy disk 2 of 2
Prompt: Installation Complete
[OK] will be highlighted
Prompt: All software on (yourmachine)
InterBase relational DBMS (ver V4.0M.SS)
Note: InterBase should be listed along with other software previously installed.
Once the kit is loaded,
the install script still needs to be run.
For this kit, loading and installing are two separate steps.
If both are not completed the shared libraries will not be in place.
To run the shell script move or copy the install script from
usr/interbase to /usr and then run the shell script install.
To add the license key run the iscinstall utility.
Iscinstall is located in:
Add the license id and key information
You will need to reboot your machine.
Once you have rebooted your machine you should be up and running.
To verify the license keys are installed, go to the
isc_license.dat text file which is located in the bin directory.
