Abstract: Discuss the key challenges faced by Government and Commercial data professionals
Federal and Greater Washington DC ER/Studio User Group Inaugural Event
Data professionals in government, government contracting and commercial organizations have asked specific questions about how to solve their unique data problems. This User Group kick-off explores the solutions to those problems, allowing for training and dialogue. Whether you are a data architect concerned about modernizing models for NIEM, FISMA, and MDR, or a database developer with questions about performance, governance, and compliance, this is the community for you.
For this inaugural event, Embarcadero Technologies is hosting Michael Roper, who is responsible for data modeling at Freddie Mac. A field-tested expert in the complete transformation of enterprise metadata management, Michael will share successes, failures, and insights about metadata management. Embarcadero’s own Jason Tiret will also present Tips and Tricks and Road Map information about ER/Studio, and will be on hand to answer users’ questions. This is sure to be an interactive and informative event for data professionals.

About the Presenters:
Michael Roper has more than 30 years of IT experience, with 25 years in business and technology consulting. For the past 15 years, he has focused on enterprise data management challenges, including governance, standards, stewardship, modeling and metadata. Michael is recognized in both business and technology realms for his ability to align business and IT through enterprise architecture and best data management practices. He readily shares successes, failures, and insights across both public and private sectors. Currently, he is responsible for data modeling at Freddie Mac. Previously, he managed enterprise data modeling and metadata at Fannie Mae, where he facilitated a complete transformation of enterprise metadata management using ER/Studio.
Jason Tiret, Director of Modeling and Design Solutions at Embarcadero Technologies, has more than 12 years of experience in data modeling, metadata and database management and currently manages Embarcadero’s entire product line of award-winning modeling solutions. In this role, he has consulted with many Fortune 500 companies, published articles for various industry magazines and has been a frequent speaker on the topics of data architecture, metadata and data governance.
