Great idea on the Borland contest. Too fun! There is a plethora of software developers who will still prove that the software developer business model works. For every MySQL there is an Oracle. For every Dev-C++, there is a C++Builder. Having a full time, professional software development team makes ALL of the difference. Go DevCo and go BORLAND!

Personally I am about to release my shareware 8x8 and 10x8 chess program SMIRF as a donationware. Because I have got the impression, that you unfortunately believe, that donationware has to be always usable unrestrictedly even without sending a donation to its author, I cannot participate here. Because I do not agree, that donationware has to be a form of freeware. Instead I prefer to regard donationware to be a form of shareware.
