I haven't quite understood what you are saying.I like Delphi, it's VCL, the fast, native and statically linked code that it generates. I use embedded Python when I need a dynamic memory managed language with Delphi.I like VS2003. C# is the best statically typed language I have used so far. I like being able to make PocketPC apps and event and component based Web apps. What I am worried is Win32 being subsumed by .NET in Borland tools. It already happened in MS tools. But that did not worry me since I no longer use those tools (VB6 and VC++6). Delphi was miles ahead than MS tools (v6 anyway). Delphi .NET does not seem to be.Both worlds appeal to me. But Borland's shift to .NET is putting an end to a still very viable Win32 world! Right now D6 answers my needs well. I will get BCB7 if there will be one. It just hurts to see there will be no further enhancements to these fine tools in the direction I like. It would have been really nice if it was possible to simply be able to use Win32 VCL code as unmanaged pieces with .NET. That would have been best of both the worlds.

Unfortunately, Delphi .net is not only one of the possible migrations to .Net platform. Many of us started to use VS.Net or other .net IDE."Go to .Net" not equal "go to .net with Delphi"...Delphi is an alternative of VS but not yet migration tool to go to .net as 1 to 1 conversion.So... People are using .Net one way or another... with Delphi or without... Delphi 8/9 is possible way of migration... and it is up to you to decide if it is best choice.

"more then half of Delphi developers are planning to move to the .Net Framework within next year or already did so".I am really surprised with the above statement. I am one of the people dissapointed with Delphi 8. Not that it is a bad product but comparing it with the goodness that is already there and the general direction. Where did these numbers come from? I don't see any components on the web to appear that people are developing with it. DSP has 1 shareware component and 0 freeware components. Agreed 6 months is not a lot but still ...My reason for using Delphi was user contributed components, being able to distribute completly stand alone components without any any fuss (runtimes, activeX). If I cannot use the very rich, do anything libraries from torry.net or DSP or JEDI and have to worry about users having the right version of the .NET runtime, I might as well go with C#. I wish borland just gave me an option to talk to .NET libraries, made C# Builder talk to VCL or something like that than loose every good thing I had with Delphi to compile .NET assemblies. Memory management may have been an issue to VC++ users and .NET is a big leap for them but I rarely worry that in Delphi with containers cleaning up children.I really don't want to loose lean and native VCL.
