I think it is sufficient for Borland to disable their product after 60 days. Disabling software created with Demo-Delphi is not only un-called for, but it is highly unethical.Oviously Borland has not considered third (innocent) parties who are adversly effected, not withstanding the fact that the software is a spybot. While I respect BORLAND's right to protect their intellectualproperty, there are limits to such rights, and I do believe thatBorland has a serious case of "Bill Gates" disease. If a contractor builds a house using a stolen power saw, the originalpower saw owner does NOT have a right to demolish the customer's newhome, nor does he have a lien against it !!!MJS.

We've been struggling for a while to figure out if we need ADO or DBExpress components for our applications. We have Delphi front end and Paradox back end. We're currently working on a conversion of Paradox back end to SQL Server. Currently we're using BDE components. What would you recommend?

Not sure if this will help, but seeing as the reports of this problem appear to have stemmed from some adware, perhaps installing software such as AdAware or SpyBot (search on Google) it may detect and remove it.Otherwise Symantic wrote a bit at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.adroar.htmlGood Luck!Nigel.

Hey there!I'm having immense difficulties in gettin rid of the problem message at hand. I've removed every cpr-related file from the computer, and even destroyed practicly everything that I've gotten from friends via the net in order to get rid if every possible referrance to the infuriating Delphi-remark(nothing against Delphi though =). Could someone please give me a hand? ps. I tried changing the date and that helped, but I don't think that's a permanent solution, I mean, it feels like giving up to the machine :)

I had this occur on a Clients Windows XP Professional PC. I could not open Control Panel, use appwiz.cpl, Explore My Computer or Network Neighborhood. I had them boot to Safe Mode and removed it through Add/Rmove Programs in Control Panel. At that point I had the client look for any other 3rd Party Programs that they did not recognize. The found one called ToPicks. This is known as a Parasite by and.doxdesk.com. The link for the article is: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/TOPicks.html and there are manual removal instructions in it. A good thing as I was unable to use Add/Remove programs to remove the Program. It states that the App, ToPicks, is an advertising program and had the following security issue:Security issuesYes. TOPicks can silently download and execute arbitrary unsigned code from its controlling server tpdownload.topicks.com, as a self-updating feature. Not sure if this helps or not. Thought I would pass it on.Dale RobertsPC RSS
