Abstract: Borland JDataStore 2nd Runner-Up as Best Enterprise Database; ranked with Oracle9i and IBM DB2 in Developer's Vote

SYS-CON Media announced the results of the fifth annual Java Developer's Journal Readers' Choice Awards at the Web Services Edge 2002 West - International Web Services, Java, and XML Conference & Expo held October 1-3 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. The Java Developer's Journal Reader's Choice Awards program has become the most respected industry competition of its kind and is often referred to as the "Oscars of the Software Industry." More than 30,000 JDJ readers cast their votes to select the best Java products of the year in 29 different award catagories. Borland's JDataStore database was the 2nd Runner-Up ranked with other finalists Oracle 9i and IBM DB2 Universal Database in voting for best enterprise database.

"We are delighted to learn that JDataStore finished so high in the voting, given the long list of older, better known databases that it competed against," said Brad Asmus, JDataStore's Senior Marketing Manager. "What is even more remarkable is that the readers of Java Developer's Journal view JDataStore, with an installed footprint of barely 1MB, automatic crash recovery and nearly zero maintenance, in the same class as the far better known databases. The fact is that, even though Borland targets the embedded market with JDataStore, it delivers the speed, versatility and scalability of an enterprise database."
