Very informative. However, Delphi7 got terribly confused with the packages (design vs. runtime), and basically got them mixed up. Cleared out totally from the IDE and continued using an ASCII editor - now that I understood what was going on. So, the article really DID solve my problem. /Thanks /Bjorn

What ever happened to Proxies.pas?

Dear Borland:As I understand it, somewhere between Delphi 5 and Delphi 7 someone in your organization got a bug up their posterior and decided to “force compliance with the Delphi license agreements” by creating an intentional compiler error to the effect “can not find proxies.pas”. Simply put, stick your compliance up your gluteus maximus. I am out here in the trenches trying to solve problems while you seem to be more concerned with creating them. If compliance is your game, supply a conversion utility, do not force me to become expert in something that has nothing to do with my day to day existence. When you are up to your ass in alligators, compliance is not your primary concern. Cheers – James D. Hudnall

What ever happened to Proxies.pas?

Borland really needs to include your article (or some form of it) in their online help or readme file (neither search nor index returned any topics with the word "proxies" in D7Pro). Though your article helped, there was one piece of information that sort of needed highlighting for me that I found at another web site:==============================================You will have to ensure that the run-time package does not require the design-time package(s).==============================================This information was taken from the source below, and is also the answer to one of the questions asked in this thread I believe. Thanks for your help Jeff.http://www.delphifaq.com/fq/q3072.shtml

re: What ever happened to Proxies.pas?

Nope. Delphi 7 Professional has a design time error asking where Proxies.dcu/pas is, but I think that separating design time and runtime code is fairly logical and straightforward anyway. I figure that compared to the Fort Knox policies of Microsoft, Borland is very open with their source, so deciding to restrict the use of some of their internal IDE workings is reasonable.
