How to add an evaluation license with InterBase 6

By: Quinn Wildman

Abstract: Evaluation licenses allow full access to InterBase 6 for 90 days

The install of InterBase 6 prompts for your InterBase license. At this point, if you enter a key of eval and a blank ID you will have an evaluation license when the installation completes. However, if you enter an invalid license during the install of InterBase 6, or you just want to test additional functionality you might be interested in purchasing with more licensing, you can add an evaluation license subsequent to installation. You can do so in one of two ways:
  1. Run the iblicense command line utility and enter eval.
  2. If you are running on the Windows Platforms, run IBConsole and add a license with a Key and ID of eval. Note that IBConsole currently does not allow you to add your first certificate. Your first certificate must be added with iblicense.exe.
