Kylix preview in December?

The Register is reporting that a preview could ship widely next month.

Everybody's so eager to see Kylix that they tend to read quite a lot into offhand comments. It's not clear whether there's any solid news behind this article, though apparently the author apparently exchanged at least a word or two with Borland's Michael Swindell at Comdex. I expect we'll see a lot more reports like this -- vague and hopeful -- as Kylix excitement builds prior to the release date.

One more thing: The article uses the phrase "Linux Delphi" to describe the product that the Kylix Project will deliver. Speculation about Kylix's ultimate name has been hot and heavy in the newsgroups, with arguments evenly split between people who think "Kylix" is a fine name (Delphi was named after its project code name, after all) and those who think it's foolish to discard the benefits of Delphi's reputation by using a new name. Maybe a decision has been made.
