DBD/DBI is a vendor independent database interface for PERL. 
DBI stands for database interface, where DBD stands for database 
driver.

InterBase currently does not have a DBD driver implemented,  but it is 
under consideration for inclusion (possibly in the 6.0 time frame) as 
an feature to Bill Karwin's IBPerl project.
