Abstract: Call isc_dsql_sql_info() or use IB_WISQL
Is there a way to get the query plan without actually running the
query in WISQL?
Note: The information in this document applies to InterBase 5.X versions.
There are two ways of seeing the plan without running the query.
1. Call isc_dsql_sql_info() with the item isc_info_sql_get_plan.
See the API Guide for examples of using isc_dsql_sql_info().
2. A free and fully functioning utility called IB_WISQL can be downloaded at
http://www.ibobjects.com and it does exactly what you are asking. You only
need to prepare the statement and it will show you the plan. Please note that
IB_WISQL is third party software. It is not made by InterBase Software Corporation.
Although many users have found this utility helpful, we cannot guarantee that it will
work in every situation.
