Abstract: Remove the INTERBASE environment variable and re-install the product.
After entering the 5.0 license ID and Key, I get the "Can't format message 19:33 - message
file c:interbasinterbase.msg not found". Installing on Windows 95/NT.
From a previous installation of InterBase (most likely 4.x), the INTERBASE environment
variable (set in AUTOEXEC.BAT or NT's System control panel) was set to "c:interbas"
which determines the InterBase home directory (location of .msg, .dat, isc4.gdb files).
Remove the INTERBASE environment variable and re-install the product.
There was also an isolated incident of an invalid .msg file being located in the PATH
environment variable that produced the same error. Removing the .msg or the directory
from the PATH made the error go away.
In another case this error was thrown even though there was no PATH information regarding InterBase.
In this case an inspection of his registry revealed two different pointers to InterBase: one being
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/borland/interbase corp/interbase, and the other
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/interbase corp/interbase. After these two keys were deleted the install was
