What do all the InterBase v5.x licenses mean / do?

By: Borland Staff

Abstract: Can you explain what the new licenses do?

Problem:
I'm used to the 3.x and 4.x InterBase licensing.
Can you explain what the new licenses do?

Solution:
License Key:	Functionality:

Server Activation	This key is used during the installation
of the product, it activates the server for
                                     (1) user. It allows local access only.

Metadata Allows Database Metadata manipulation for
                                      the server.

Remote Access	Allows clients to attach to the server and
                                     access databases.

Client Capability	Allows the server to act as a client connect
to other InterBase Servers or itself (loopback),
assuming there is a 'Remote Access'
		license present.

Pre-Compilers	Allows for GPRE using various languages.

Simultaneous User	Regulates the number of remote clients
that can connect to the server at the same time.
'Remote Access' license must be installed for
                                     this to work.

Internet Access Lic.	License for usage with the Web Servers.
