What is the segment size and sub type of a blob?

Abstract: The segment size determines the length of the data being sent. The sub type descrbes the contents of the blob.

Problem:
What is the segment size and sub type of a blob?

Solution:
The segment size determines the length of the data being sent or
received with regard to a blob.  It tells the engine how much data
to expect or to get. 

The sub type descrbes the contents of the blob. (ie. text, binary, jpeg, etc)
