Abstract: Possible causes:
I am getting this error message: "Error: cannot format message 14:0, message text not found"
If you get this error message in standard output, it normally means one of the following:
a) Improper installation of a new kit when previous version kit exists
b) Interbase.msg file is corrupted.
c) Wrong interbase.msg file (because of situation described in a)
Another reason could be that, the codes generated by certain facilities like GDEF,
QLI, GPRE, etc. could be changed when the version of InterBase changed.
So, if you are trying to use an embedded SQL application in a newer version, that was
prepared using the older kit, you might get this message as well.
Check for :
a) Improper installation of a new kit when previous version kit exists.
b) Check if the interbase.msg file is corrupted.
c) Try recompiling the application using the newer GPRE, and relink using the newer InterBase
NOTE: If the "cannot format message.." error is preceded by the error..
"operating system directive gds__alloc failed
-unable to allocate memory from operating system", then
check to see if the system is out of virtual memory. The memory allocation
problem occurs probably due to lack of swap space.
