By: Borland Staff

Abstract: A chart that lists the operators supported in InterBase and their order of precedence:

Problem:
A Listing of Interbase-specific, and ANSI 92 SQL Standard Arithmetic Operators

Solution:
The information in this article applies to:
  * InterBase v4.x
  * InterBase v5.x

The chart below lists the operators supported in InterBase and their order of precedence:

Operator		Precedence	Explanation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=, == Highest	Equality operations are evaluated
			before all other comparison
			operations.
<>, !=, ~=, ^=	                             _
>		_
<		_
>=		_
<=		_
!>, ~>, ^>		_
!<, ~<, ^< Lowest	Not less than operations are
                                                                                        evaluated after all other comparison
                                                                                        operations.

This chart can also be found in the online help for InterBase.

The ANSI 92 SQL Standard reserves these operators:

  = <> > < >= <=

These operators are InterBase-specific and are not part of the ANSI 92 SQL Standard:

  == != ~= ^= !> ~> ^> !< ~< ^<
