NOTE: If you have installed Inprise Application Server and performed the steps to integrate it with JBuilder, do NOT follow these steps. Your Enterprise functionality should already be enabled.
Question:
I have JBuilder 3.5 Enterprise, but why isn't the "Enterprise Java Bean" item in the "Enterprise" gallery enabled?
Answer:
JBuilder 3.5 Enterprise supports J2EE functionality but these features are not enabled by default. To enable these features (e.g., Enterprise JavaBeans support) you must install Sun's Java 2 Enterprise Edition. The Java 2 SDK - Enterprise Edition can be downloaded from Sun's Web site at:
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/j2sdkee/.
Once you have downloaded and installed the Java 2 SDK - Enterprise Edition Software v 1.2.1, edit your "jbuilder.config" file and add the following line:
addjars <path to j2ee jars>
For example:
addjars C:/j2ee/lib
You will also need to create a Library for J2EE in JBuilder. Go to Project | Project Properties and then the "Required Libraries" Tab. Then choose "Add" then "New". Give the libarary a name, then choose "Add" on the "Class" tab, browse to the directory that contains the J2EE jar files, and multi-select the following three .jar files:
- ejb10deployment.jar
- j2ee.jar
- jhall.jar
Once this is done, click the "OK" button to save the Library. Click "OK" again to add the library to your Project. Click "OK" again to close the Project Properties dialog.
