Abstract: This document explains how to perform a hard-drive, Safe Mode installation of Turbo C++ 3.0 for DOS.

Question:

I have encountered problems running the Turbo C++ 3.0 installation routine (i.e., freezes after first screen, invalid source paths, etc). How do I install the product?

Answer:

The way to get Turbo C++ 3.0 installed if you have encountered difficulties is by performing a hard-drive, Safe Mode installation. This involves copying the \Turboc30 folder from the CD to the hard-drive, restarting in Safe Mode, and installing from the folder copied. The steps are as follows:

  • Place the installation CD in the drive.
  • Copy the \Turboc30 folder from the CD to the root of your C:\ drive using Windows Explorer.
  • Restart the system in Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing F8 while the computer is booting, then select option 3 for Safe Mode when the menu appears.
  • Navigate the \Turboc30 and double-click on INSTALL.EXE (plain icon) to start the installation.
  • Indicate C as the source drive.
  • Press Enter for the source path.
  • Use all defaults for the installation.

After the installation is complete go to the following documents to configure Turbo C++ 3.0 for DOS.
